Here I am standing with one of the many fountains at Hampton Court. This is significant because the fountain in Brideshead Revisited represents Charles's faith.

A tree right outside of the Church of Christ Chapel with the inscription "the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nation"
At the Eltham Palace, in the great hall I found it fascinating how on the top of every light they have a crown to symbolize the family's power.
This was in the stairway to Henry VIII's apartment in Hampton Court. Many of these figures in the painting are Greek gods or mythology characters.
I liked how you focused on minor things that we could miss and highlighted the importance of it.
ReplyDeleteI like how you made your entry more personalized, and showed not only the things you noticed, but what you took away from them.
ReplyDeleteChristo, good pictures! I agree with Lexie: you were really able to focus in on the minor details and apply them to the bigger picture. I am curious about the tree outside Christ Church- I wonder if it had something to do with WWII?
ReplyDeleteSuch a good set of images to highlight your own growing understanding of coming of age as a skeptic. Did you notice what KIND of tree at Christ Church? I think it's an olive tree -- symbolic choice, and not exactly a native of England. Another connection to Brideshead in how things Italian found a new, and sometimes difficult, home in England.
